You are basically listing off my primary inspirations! I had to learn how to write shaders for the lighting because no modern engine does lighting like that anymore. Everything you see while flying uses custom shaders.

had a go play with making a drawn effect shader tonight, wanted to make the shadows look kind of shaded
uses an image effect for outline and distortion, and a vertex for the objects shading effects ✏️
