I uploaded a new demo for the beta testers on Itch io.
You can pretty much sleep, get the first effect (roller skates), explore three worlds, wake up and save.

Adding more details to the world. For example, at a roundabout, there's lights in the background that have a parallax scrolling effect, showing that there's a road going into the distance.

Day 15: As far as the mood goes, I'm pleased with the way this looks. Murky and gloomy. I want the underwater gargoyles (gillgoyles?) to wait in ambush like so. The player must take it slow and be very vigilant.

Yesterday I gathered some references for the enemy and started off with basic silhouettes to get some shapes onto paper. What I'm after is something that has aspects of a humanoid structure, mixed with marine biology and a dash of robotics.
