Day 09 of - Pointless Tool
I can't think of no tool more pointless for a rock smashing palaeontologist than a glass field hammer! It does look cool, though... And a small detail engraved on my model, the SBP logo!

Sinosauropteryx is a significant dinosaur for palaeontologists. But also for me, as this was the first dinosaur I painted entirely with , marking the point where it replaced Photoshop as my “go-to” painting app. I can honestly say I won’t be going back.

Baryonyx walkeri (Heavy claw), Irritator challengeri (In reference to the 'irritation' of the palaeontologists) and Suchomimus tenerensis (Crocodile mimic). Illustrations by . 🤓🐉

Day 28: Plesiosaurus
A large extinct marine reptile with a long neck, long paddle-like limbs and a short tail. The first complete skeletons were found in 1823 by palaeontologist and fossil hunter, Mary Anning.

One thing the book DOES NOT SAY (and yet is often accused of saying, clearly by people who HAVEN'T READ IT) is "look at all the silly mistakes palaeontologists are making, ha ha ha!".

Under normal circumstances Sean Harris would be designing Y Lle Celf’s Open Exhibition by now. However, with Covid-19 he’s focussing on developing a flip-book project inspired by the conflicting worlds of theologian and palaeontologist the Rev Dr William Buckland...

“She sells seashells on the seashore
The shells she sells are seashells, I'm sure
So if she sells seashells on the seashore
Then I'm sure she sells seashore shells”

Tongue twister referencing palaeontologist Mary Anning

As a palaeontologist I also spend time on my research. I use a method called X-ray micro-computed tomography to LOOK INSIDE FOSSIL’S BRAIN CAVITIES to understand more about how they thought and felt

Q: What does of a palaeontologist’ look like ?
A: Most palaeontologists work as a university lecturer, or at a museum. I look after vertebrate fossil collections at NMS - everything from fish to dinosaurs. Here's me & an albatross.

January 14, 1801, birthday of French geologist & palaeontologist Adolphe-Théodore Brongniart. His pioneering work on the relationships between extinct and existing plants has earned him the title of father of paleobotany🌿 https://t.co/1ocnwm5U5w

Palaeontologist Andrew Farke has often been used as a scale bar, mostly in connection with ceratopsians (because that's the group he specialises on)...
