All taking place in a stylized 1980s New York City.

Directed by "Kung Fury" director David Sandberg.

Why is it a bummer? This is going to be one of these movies that does a different approach to the "live action/cgi hybrid" type of film.

They're taking a Roger Rabbit, Space Jam, etc approach here.

So it's stylized CG with hand drawn elements to look like "vintage 2D".
