On this day 275 years ago in Preston 'Bonnie Prince Charlie' gave this gold locket and portrait of himself to Miss Pedder at a ball held in his honour.

He aimed restore the Stuarts to the throne, but retreated to Scotland a couple of weeks later.

The royal yacht Fubbs, named by Charles II after his nickname for Louise de Kerouaille. Designed by Phineas Pett and built in 1682 at Greenwich, Fubbs was ketch-rigged and underwent several rebuilds before being scrapped in 1781
