You're on the right path! But there are still some things you can improve. Try making your lines a bit less jaggy, never do "line shading", it makes the sprite look flat. choose one side to shade. I made an example based on your sprite that can help you see what you can improve.

How I do: first, I use watercolor wer pencil, then, I trace the lines with a little dark tone of my choice. Second, I mix the normal hair color with the lines using the same pencil, which makes a cool shade.
