I wanted to give some appreciation for Chris Sanders. One of my favorite directors working in animation, he's started off as a storyboard artist at Disney working on films like Beauty and the Beast before directing Lilo and Stitch, How to Train Your Dragon and The Croods.

Netflix has confirmed that the second season of Hilda will premiere on the streaming service in the fall, but will have its world premiere tomorrow at the New York International Children's Film Festival. I'm excited to see the show finally return after a long wait!

I'd like to show some appreciation for Gustaf Tenggren. He was a primary figure for the look of some of the older films from Disney Animation working on shorts The Old Mill, and films like Snow White, Pinocchio, and Bambi. He eventually became an illustrator for children's books.

Green Eggs and Ham is a good show of when not to judge a book by its cover. When it was first announced, it spawned a very mixed reception but the show proved that it could take a book that was made from a bet and really make something special from it. It's such a great show.

One thing I admire about A Goofy Movie is how much the animation captures the look and feel of the old Disney shorts from the 1940s. The backgrounds in particular have a nostalgic feel to it that I admire. Even with all the 90s references, it looks like it came from the 40s.

Here's some concept art of Jaq and Gus from Cinderella drawn by Marc Davis. It's interesting to see that drawing from Davis as he didn't animate the mice as he animated the titular heroine instead. The mice were animated by Ward Kimball, Wolfgang Reitherman, and John Lounsbery.

Thought I'd give some appreciation for Brenda Chapman. She started off as a storyboard artist at Disney working on films like Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King before moving to direct The Prince of Egypt and Brave the latter of which she came up with the initial concept.
