Here's some appreciation for Joe Ranft. He was one of the funniest and most creative storyboard artists who ever lived doing brilliant work for Disney, Pixar, and even the stop motion films of Tim Burton and Henry Selick. He was taken from us too soon and I miss him very much.
I wanted to give a shout out to Bruce W. Smith. He's one of the coolest and best animators working today having directed Bebe's Kids, created The Proud Family, animated many characters at Walt Disney Animation Studios, and co-directed the short Hair Love. I really love his work.
Here's some appreciation for Tony Fucile. He's done some amazing animation work over the years doing animation and character designs for Disney Animation, Warner Bros Animation, Pixar, and also was recently an animator on Klaus. He doesn't get enough credit for his amazing work.
Yellow Submarine is easily one of the most psychedelic animated movies ever made. Every time I watch it, I feel like I'm watching pop art come to life and having the music by The Beatles is easily a huge bonus. It's a film that really makes you love animation.
@JW_Cartoonist Here are a few of my choices. I also agree with The Peanuts Movie and Angry Birds Movie 2 being underrated as well.
Retta Scott is an artist who deserves way more credit than she gets. She was the first female animator to be credited on a Disney film doing work for films like Bambi and later on in her life The Plague Dogs. She also illustrated books as well. She deserves way more recognition.
I thought I'd give a shoutout to Pixar artist Ralph Eggleston. Along with directing the Oscar-winning short For the Birds, he's done the production design on a lot of Pixar's films mostly doing work using oil pastels. His work is simply superb and reminds me of impressionist art.
I thought I'd give some appreciation to Nico Marlet. He's one of my favorite character designers and has worked on some fantastic DreamWorks films. I just love seeing his concept art and how well it's translated to the final film.
Klaus has won Best Animated Feature Film at the Annie Awards! Congratulations to the cast and crew of the film as well as the staff at Netflix and SPA Animation Studios! Very well deserved win!
It's Pony has had a pretty successful debut on Nickelodeon! The pilot of the cartoon was watched by one million people last week becoming the biggest new debut for a new Nick cartoon in two years! Congratulations to the crew of the show for a successful debut!
