77 years ago today, Yamato, Yahagi, Isokaze, Hamakaze, Kasumi, and Asashimo sank in the Battle of Bonomisaki.
I offer my sincere condolences to Admiral Shoichi Ito, Commander of the 2nd Fleet, and the 3,721 others who perished in Operation Ten-Go 1.

77年前の本日、坊ノ岬沖海戦で大和・矢矧・磯風・浜風・霞・朝霜が戦没。改めて「天一号作戦」で散華された第二艦隊司令長官伊藤整一提督以下3,721名に衷心より哀悼の誠を捧げます。
この日本を、子々孫々にわたり受け継いでいく努力を続けていく事こそ、彼らへの報恩でしょう。

大正6年8月、第一次世界大戦下の地中海へ派遣され第二特務艦隊旗艦となった「出雲」の、マルタ島グランドハーバー入港シーンを描いた作品。
「出雲」乗組員が残した外国港湾繋留投錨法の図を基に作画。

I've been working on the background of the pencil drawing "The Mediterranean Expedition - Armored cruiser Izumo 2577", painting the streets of Valletta, Malta. I'm getting closer and closer to the finish line. The goal is still a long way off...

I was able to borrow some valuable materials. Although the time period is different, there is a record of the anchoring method on the island of Malta left by the Izumo crew, and it is no exaggeration to say that this work uses that as the main subject.
