#KirbyPages originally published in TALES TO ASTONISH #27.
This is the best example of why you should always end an issue with a turn of the page.
Alfredo Alcala was born OTD in 1925. He was already acclaimed in his native Philippines when he started doing horror tales for DC - a specialty his entire career - and eventually added lush inks over John Buscema's Conan. His comics work ended in 1996 and he died in 2000.

8/18/70: Groot gets reprinted in WHERE MONSTERS DWELL #6, and for me he'll always be 200' tall, eloquent, and the color of your grandma's dining room table. Is it weird I rooted for the monsters to conquer us? That's because Kirby intentionally never drew them *too* frightening.
