@mortalsinz Not to burst your bubble but @CrocHolliday sorta called that a few years ago when he & his colleagues identified the blood vessels in t rex that modern birds use to nourish their wattles (& do other stuff like cool off their brains):

@GTyranosaur While the _exact_ life appearance of the Dodo isn't precisely known, we know from eyewitness historical accounts & paintings that it had a mostly naked face with variable coloration, grayish to brownish body plumage, white wing tips and a floofy pom pom tail. So yah, weird af.
@OberstarPatrik had a few questions for me about where the sutures are in my #Dilophosaurus skull reconstruction from @NotThatMarsh redescription. Some of the sutures are poorly preserved or undetectable so some weren't included. Here's an updated version w/ labeling & notes.
OR you could:
-write #paleoart into your research grants as part of "outreach"
-commission artists to make original art to help tell the story of what's compelling abt your study/species
-couple art w/ effective & relatable #scicomm
-develop a fan base for non-theropod organisms https://t.co/jdcyzNdJGk
Where we were at last night (day 2 of painting) on our background mural for the @LVNHMuseum #Dilophosaurus exhibit. Stoked to have my studio neighbor Syd (aka poppyr0ckz - look her #animation OC character design art up on IG) help in studio refining the middle dunes! LETS GOOO!!
We have so much more to show you. To learn more about the #paleoartprocess of reconstructing #Ornatops & a link to the scientific paper check out my blog here: https://t.co/QnRQjIUj58

@atrocityraptor @digital_duck @KingRexy328 @Carnoferox @MarkWitton In the case of saurischian dinosaurs, many other archosaurs, reptiles & amphibians there are complex and highly variable air-sac systems throughout the body. "Bubble wrapping" refers to the air filled diverticula throughout birds bodies that looks like bubble wrap.
Others, such as #Clioscaphites & the strait-shelled #Bacculites, spent most of their time in deep water - as indicated by isotopes in their shells. These, like many #ammonite groups ate plankton, as indicated by clumps of plankton found in the body cavities of some #fossils.
The exhibit features over 40 pieces of original #paleoart inspired directly by the #fossils they're displayed along side, which explore the #Cretaceous Western Interior Seaway from its briny depths to the #dinosaur-patrolled beaches.
