Lost Pokemon of the Day: Primal Dialga
While not technically a "Lost Pokemon" in the traditional sense, Primal Dialga's been missing from the Pokemon series since 2009. What's more, he's never appeared in a mainline game -- only in spinoffs, anime, & manga.

Lost Pokemon of the Day: Kōnya
Originally meant as stage 1 of the Meowth family, Kōnya was created for Gen 1, but ended up getting cut. Then Kōnya was later planned for inclusion in Gen 2, but got cut again.

First officially revealed by Game Freak in the 2018 Satoshi Tajiri biographical manga, Cactus was created during the development of Gen 1... but didn't end up making the final cut.

Beta Ledian:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Ledian was completely different, and his name was originally Mitsuboshi, meaning "Three Star Ladybug." But he was later redesigned and renamed.

In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Ledyba and Ledian weren't originally linked by evolution data. It seems they were once rivals -- but later, ended up getting revised into relatives.

Lost Pokemon of the Day: Madame
22 years before Sirfetch'd, there was Madame. Gold & Silver's 1997 demo contained many Pokemon that were later scrapped -- including Madame, who evolved from Farfetch'd at level 24.

In the months leading up to the release of Gold & Silver, lots of pre-release and promotional materials showed Chikorita's official artwork was yellow... but he ended up getting changed to green.

In 2018, Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara showcased some Gen 1 beta sprites on Japanese TV, including Arcanine's -- revealing his original design for the very first time.

Beta Aipom:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Aipom's original Japanese name was Teiru -- a pun that translates to something like "Hand Tail." But Teiru was later redesigned and renamed Eipam.
