The foot bones of Moros were extremely slender, with metatarsal proportions more similar to ornithomimids than to other Late Cretaceous tyrannosauroids.
Guanlong showed that every lineage with giants had small beginnings. Also the cranial crest of Guanlong is intriguing, and may have been used for display. Artwork by @BrianEngh_Art
2. The next #tyrannosaur for #25DaysOfTyrannosaurs will be #Guanlong, a proceratosaurid with a rather remarkable name “Crown Dragon”. Proceratosaurids are known for their small size (with some exceptions), long arms with three fingers, and elaborate crests.
Hope everyone got to save the turkey’s wishbone yesterday? Theropod dinosaurs like #Tyrannosaurus also have a wishbone or furcula. You can see the furcula that’s present on @SUEtheTrex of @FieldMuseum
for #FossilFriday.
#Amaura & #Aurorus (my second favorite fossil Pokemon) are based on #sauropods, specifically #Amargasaurus, which were speculated to have had possible skin sail extensions on their vertebral spines.
#Tyrunt & #Tyrantrum (my favorite fossil Pokemon btw) are based on #Tyrannosaurus, with Tyrunt having the crests similar to #Gorgosaurus. The fringe serves as a reference of Tyrannosaurus possibly having feathers. Photo of @SUEtheTrex
Both #Archen & #Archeops draw inspiration from #Archaeopteryx.
Both #Tirtouga & #Carracosta are based on prehistoric sea #turtles, specifically #Protostega for Tirtouga and #Archelon for Carracosta, with Archelon being bigger than Protostega.
#Shieldon & #Bastiodon are based on #ceratopsian dinosaurs, with Shieldon resembling #Protoceratops with the lack of horns and Bastiodon having a head similar to #Chasmosaurus, as opposed to #Triceratops.
#Cranidos & #Rampardos are based on #pachycephalosaurs with Cranidos, however, resembling the #ceratopsian #Micropachycephalosaurus & Rampardos having the head ornamentation of #Stygimoloch.
