It's #wedNESday !
From the Project Blue NES manual WIP.
Thanks to @mteegfx , the manual is not only rich in illustrations but also in lore. Had it been up to me, it had been half as long, half as detailed, poorly narrated, a 10th as good looking, and in swenglish. ;)
Didn't get nearly enough done today but might be interesting to show a bit more of my process.
For making larger structures (anything from the angels to the mausoleum), it helps composing a silhouette of basic geometric shape tiles and then start to chisel out a few guidelines
The idea is to practice on transitions between environments within the same level set. Free chr space in the bg table: 1.5k (about 100+ tiles). Enough to switch out a a quarter block with a proper mapper. Maybe some tileswap animated streams and fog borders? We'll see!
Here's a public PRESS KIT for our new NES game Project Blue
It contains all sorts of pixel & vector graphics, txt manual, design notes, press text, and of course the demo of the game.
