Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man (2017) #301
The Time Trio of Peter, Teresa and J. Jonah Jameson, take on Spider-Man’s greatest villains! Chip Zdarsky is being indulgent writing about young alt-timeline Spidey and I’m loving it! Joe Quniones art is (yup!) spectacular! 5/5
Star Wars (2015) #44
Leia attempts to enlist Grand Admiral Urtya to the Rebeliion. Gillen begins a promising new arc, with some nice moments between our leads. Artist Larroca and colorist Guru-eFX have perfected a cinematic look that really draws me in. 4/5
Infinity Countdown Prime (2018) #1
The hunt for the newly-reformed Infinity Stones begins. Duggan has proved he has a good grasp on Marvel Cosmic and this is an intriguing start. I loved Deodato’s work on Thanos and his work here is just as stunning. 4.5/5
The Amazing Spider-Man (2017) #796
The Goblin King drops in unexpectedly. Slott/Gage are still table-setting for Slott’s last arc. Not really feeling Hawthorne’s art; maybe it’s Pallot/Smith’s over-crosshatched inking. 3.5/5
Maestros #7
Mardok has undone reality, but Will it stay so? Steve Skroce has crafted a modern magical masterwork and ends (?) it with a truly satisfying finale. I can only imagine the inhuman patience it took Dave Stewart to color Steve’s meticulous art so flawlessly. 5/5
Avengers (2016) #677
Quicksilver is left without a team. I’m getting tired of Petro the outsider storyline and considering the circumstances, I’m surprised Ewing/Waid/Zub went there. Pepe Larraz’ art seems even more chaotic this issue. 3.5/5
I Hate Fairyland #20
Will Dark Cloudia finally be the end of Gert? In a surprise move, Skottie Young puts an end to the series; in apropos - if not completely satisfying - fashion. The two-page splash was dynamic and gave colorist Jean-Francois Beaulieu a chance to shine. 4.5/5
The Amazing Spider-Man (2017) #794
Is Spider-Man prepared for Zodiac’s return? Slott has set up Zodiac as a formidable foe, which helps Dan bring the best out in Spidey. Having Stuart Immonen and Wade von Grawbadger on art is a treat! 4/5
