But guys! I can’t believe that you missed out the chilly snowbound Siberian train The Thing inspired horror - “Horror Express.” It even has a frozen thawed out alien/possessed yeti(ish)-creature on the loose.

Close ups of the talisman activating were shot later in reshoots after the original cinematographer had left the shoot and the climactic scene need reshooting.

@BucherJones Some of the characters from this era of British cinema ended up in this recent interlinked novel of fictional characters from various movies.

But my thoughts were more along the lines of unmade films from/made in that era that never happened.

Watching the extra features documentaries on the “Forbidden Planet” blu ray I discovered that Robby the Robot was created by American/Japanese Robert Kinoshita, who previously worked as a washing machine designer.
During WW2 he and wife were interned at a ‘War Relocation Centre.’

Now that it is officially December and the winter chill draws closer to home, it would be remiss of me not to remind you of the classic fireside ghost stories from the pen of M.R. James, available in a brilliant BFI DVD box set.

It was optioned twice in the UK and the US to be made into a TV show some years back but after some development both eventually came to naught.

Other films have come since that touched on similar elements; “Annihilation” and “Color out of Space.”

But it’s still worth a read.

After watching the coastal island horror TV drama “Midnight Mass” this week I suppose it would be remiss of me not to recommend my own island based 2015 horror/sci-fi themed comic book “Surface Tension.”

Honestly, I had put off watching it as I’m sometimes recommend things that are homage to 80s type films, eg: “Stranger Things.” I’m kind of not particularly interested in those things.

Even the Netflix promo poster to this made it looked like an 80s homage thing.
