It’s also a shame that the rumoured recorded “Wolfen” audio commentary by director Michael Wadleigh didn’t make it to the disc. I’d love to know more about the troubled background production of that film from the director himself.

It’s one of the reasons why I was an avid reader of film magazines in the pastlike “Cinefantastique.” Film productions were less guarded by big studio marketing/PR contracts. Nowadays it’s all so much well oiled PR fluff.
I’d advice anyone reading this to pick up back issues.

Also, let’s remind ourselves of how good the physical packaging is for the blu ray boxset of the series. Love how the outer-case pulls open to reveal the fragmented three forms of Agent Cooper: Coop’, Evil Cooper and Dougie Jones. And within lies the Lodge that holds the discs.

The 2010s

Under the Skin
Shin Godzilla
Hereditary
Suspiria (2018)

The 2010s decade saw a boom in challenging horror/monster cinema: with all female casts and black and women directors using horror for racial/gender aware themes. So very hard to choose my personal 4 favourites.

The 1920s

Nosferatu : Murnau
Haxan : Christensen
Faust : Murnau
Der Golem : Wegener

Mostly easy choices for me, mostly European expressionism stemming from post WW1 defeated Germany that excelled in a whole new cinematic experiment and love affair with genre cinema.

Tonight’s late film was Val Lewton/Robert Wise’s “The Body Snatcher” based on the novel by Robert Louis Stephenson.
Excellent moral drama set during the conflict of furthering medical science and the ban on dissection of dead human bodies.
Karloff is superb as grave-robber Gray.

So now that Dune (2021) has put to bed the memory of the flop that was the Lynch adaptation, do you think that other literary film adaption flops could receive the same treatment?

For all their problems I still enjoy these films, I’m never bored by them as I am other safe bets.

I had to take many trains across several countries just recently, so it got me thinking… Like horror films AND trains?!

Here are 4 films that might scratch that itch for you:

Death Line: cannibals
Horror Express: body possession alien
Howl: werewolves
Train to Busan: zombies
