I've decided to just start finishing pieces. I was feeling super sick earlier today so I took some time to relax and doodle compositions.
Initial thumbnail is on the left, inks on the right. I need to just finish more pieces.
I usually don't post this kind of thing because I end up just deleting it. But I figured I should keep track of more of my doodles and thumbnails.
I have so many cool illustration and visual ideas from this story concept I probably won't ever actually produce. 😂
Here's a quick process image of the last workflow test I did. Good lines honestly let you get away with all sorts of BS in the coloring stage.
Sai Workflow:
I do lines -> Soft airbrush gradient shading -> Loose/softened cel shading with watercolor fringe
Testing inks and flatted coloring for my comic. I am happy with something for once in my sad life.
I did a bunch of ink and aesthetic copies of my favorite artists. Idk if I should post them because I'm embarrassed to tag them but feel also weird not tagging them. 😂
At this point, everyone should just expect me to post 2 copies of every drawing.
The first will be the version I think is done.
The second will be the one where I went and tried to fix all the mistakes that only became visible once I posted publicly.
I had a lot of fun with this piece. I'm trying a sort of hybrid illustration style that is less rendering intensive/exhausting.
I think this is a nice balance between painterly and flats that still lets my line work do a lot of the heavy lifting.
Characters are Gabriel and Mina
Quick WIP of the piece I started yesterday. Testing values. It looked kind of cool with just the hair accents.
Characters are Gabriel and Mina.
Ugh I love drawing her so much. Such a cutie. I am endlessly testing out clothes and hairstyles on her.
Made a few minor changes. Feeling artblocked lately. I have no idea what I'm doing anymore.
This is a doodle of Taviel I started while streaming and chatting with @KunoMD in his server.
I'm experimenting with brushes and trying to loosen up my rendering a bit.
