Okay, applying newfound knowledge to this set of environment studies/tests I did yesterday.
HERPA DERP. Everything looks fine now. https://t.co/f3Jl96CI7X
Okay, so I got some helpful crit and tried lowering the contrast and faking some atmospheric perspective. I think this helps a LOT. I totally forgot I knew this?
I am so bad at composition and scene depth 😂 https://t.co/d3hB8wVw4v
Comic environment/background workflow tests.
I'm also just trying to get better at painting and designing environments generally. I consider this dual purpose grinding.
I'm trying to expand my visual library for buildings, locations, lighting etc.

I'm a comic artist and illustrator. I'm working on the comic part. For now, here are some illustrations I did in 2020.
I set up a bunch of Photoshop brushes in Sai for speed painting to give doing backgrounds another go. Loose, quick environment study+workflow test.
I'm actually happy with how this looks. Comic will be done in this manner. I've finally managed to get a simple but moody way of coloring.
1)Base colors + Lips/eyes/etc.
2) Subtle soft gradient shading
3) Cel shaded shadows (feathered in a few places as needed)
In case anyone is wondering whether Acario quit his firm to become a clown, the answer is no. The colors are an attempt to work on shape design (big, medium small, etc). These are loose doodles without ref, so the accuracy/geometry isn't super clean. I almost always use ref.
I have barely drawn in the last week since I've been writing non-stop. I'm going to take some time to really practice my rhythm and shape design for inks and comics. Gift art for a friend.
Character Gwen belongs to @Dunedeca

Piece I did for a Secret Santa event. There's a lot I'm not fully happy with, but eh. LOL. I want to get back to my other stuff.
Painting Asaro heads to procrastinate writing this proposal...
I did these based on my sphere test, and then checked reference to see if I missed anything.
Still feel like the cast shadow in my blender setting is off, but eh whatever. Mostly focused on form/planar changes.
