I'm planning to add rare SHINY LOOT to Patch Quest. As a first step, I've made this shiny shader effect.
It applies a brightness shift along a diagonal line, offset by the source color's grayscale value.

As you play Patch Quest, your base fills up with captured loot.
If things get too busy, you can throw 4 of your plants into the new bioreactor to make a bag of fertiliser.

Here's a behind the scenes look at the fake lighting effect from my #roguelike #indiegame #PatchQuest.
It's made using a soft round sprite with an additive shader. I also placed it on a higher layer in my Unity scene so it renders last.
