Now, Pokemon Yellow is based on the anime. There isn't really a Pokemon in the anime that can be considered a counterpart to Pikachu. Jigglypuff is a common pink reoccurring Pokemon in the anime, and Clefairy was seen as a mascot of sorts before Pikachu and was used before it.

Charizard was given a new cry with the release of Pokemon X and Y. Like most Mega Evolutions, Mega Charizard X uses Charizard's as a base with a filter. However, Mega Charizard Y uses Charizard's pre-gen 6 cry as a base.
Korrina's Masters battle portrait is still representative of her standard main series artwork. However, it is slightly different in posture with her right hand being held up rather than being held back.

While Dialga, Palkia and Giratina are the personification of time, space and anti-matter, their types may be based on the stages of matter; solid, liquid and gas. Dialga being Steel-Type (solid), Palkia being Water-Type (liquid) and Giratina being Ghost-Type (gas).
According to Shōko Nakagawa's auto-biography, the Spiky-Eared Pichu was meant to be named "White Pichu" (ホワイトピチュー) instead. It was renamed to ギザみみピチュー (Gizamimi Pichu) (the Japanese name). Shōko is the Pichu's Japanese VA as well as a popular singer in Japan.
