While Dialga, Palkia and Giratina are the personification of time, space and anti-matter, their types may be based on the stages of matter; solid, liquid and gas. Dialga being Steel-Type (solid), Palkia being Water-Type (liquid) and Giratina being Ghost-Type (gas).
