The name for bat in Japan is 'kōmori' (蝙蝠)...possibly this derived from 'kawamori' (川守 'protecting rivers'), 'kawahari' (皮貼り 'skin stretched [between bones]'), 'kahofuri' (蚊屠り 'mosquito vanquisher') or 'ka-o-hori' (蚊を欲り 'craving mosquitoes')🦇🦇

Adding more horror into the mix, imaginations fired by ghost stories such as 'Banchō Sarayashiki' (番町皿屋敷), the pupae of this same butterfly was likened to a bound woman😣

It became commonplace for worshippers to sip on the plain hot water as a form of purification when they visited the shrine. Because of this the rest-stop was nicknamed 'Kiyome-no-chaya' (きよめの茶屋), the 'Teahouse of Cleansing'.

Fuji-chaya closed in Edo times.

64) YATAGARASU (2)🪶
Kumano Nachi Taisha (熊野那智大社) is home to the Yatagarasu (八咫烏)...a divine, 3-legged 'crow' that helped guide Emperor Jimmu from Kumano to (what would become) Yamato. The bird was believed to be an incarnation of the god Kamo Taketsunumi (賀茂建角身命).

Although the wave pattern had been around for many centuries, some believe the name 'seigaiha' (青海波) came from the Edo period craftsman Seikai Kanshichi (青海勘七). Seikai developed a method for painting the design in black lacquer with a brush.
