Bush clover is sometimes known as "boar's bed" (臥猪床 'Fusui-no-toko') because the animals often use the plant as a nest.
In the card game hanafuda (花札 'flower cards') July is represented by bush clover & a wild boar. Together the delicate hagi & rough boar represent harmony.

The Muromachi period tale 'Tsukumogami-ki' (付喪神記) describes a city-wide 'spring clean' in the Kōhō era (康保 964-968) as a means to keep the capital smart and disease free. During the clean many household items were dumped on a nearby mountain.

Jurōjin (寿老人), one of the Shichifukujin, is god of the elderly and of longevity.
A popular subject with Zen Buddhist painters between the Muromachi and Edo periods, he is often depicted sitting under a peach tree or holding a peach, as the fruit was thought to prolong life.

Today is 'Shichifukujin-no-hi' (七福神の日), a day dedicated to the '7 Gods of Fortune'. Mostly this is to do with wordplay.
One reading of July 27th could be...7 = 'shichi' シチ / 2 = 'fu' フ / 9 'ku' = ク. Together = 'shichifuku' (七福).
