@000Angus000 @UridiumAuthor ..also. I've played Firepower. I know how a tank should behave. 😋 (They've gotta be fast, to run over the wee men.) 😮
@JamesPond47 @Lord_Arse It was often the way it was. No use of sprites. No smooth scrolling. 🤔 I think, if they had access to the original Z80 code, maybe it was easier just to convert the game exactly as-is. More changes is more opportunity for bugs and all that hassle. Maybe deadlines were a factor?
@TonimanGalvez @kamelito @rexthedogge I liked the way the bonus stage had turned into a bit of a sub-game, but did miss the fly-over the disintegrating ship at the end. ..the option to have a CPU or human pilot following as a wing-man was a neat addition though. 👍
@TonimanGalvez @kamelito @rexthedogge Lots of beautiful frontend graphics all over the place too. Loved that presentation. (The crew suits felt very anime. Maybe Appleseed?) 😁
@TonimanGalvez @kamelito @rexthedogge Yup. Uridium 2 is a very good game. Played almost perfectly on the old A500, then on an A1200 is was perfectly smooth and there was that voice added announcing all the powerup's. ..I think a few extra smoke and other effects too maybe? Not sure. Memory hazy after all this time..
@UridiumAuthor There's a lot more variety to the missions, with things to destroy one mission, recover on another, or escort/protect. The helicopter has guns, rockets and missiles, and can reload from the carrier from which most of your missions are staged. Faster CPU better, but not needed. 😉
@UridiumAuthor For those who want to play something Virus-like but don't want to have a painful claw-hand from the stress of over-sensitive mousing, I would recommend Zeewolf 1 and/or 2. The Zeewolf helicopters can be controlled with mouse or joystick, and the controls are much more relaxed. 😎
@Lord_Arse I first played Skool Daze on a friends Speccy. Loved it.
So, first chance I got, I got it for the C64 and I was well addicted to it. 😁
Then this sequel came out .. and it was Speccy only. 😭
@rexthedogge The Speccy version of Uridium is actually really impressive.
I must try again and work out how the darned controls are supposed to go. I could only get it working with keyboard, and gave up in frustration after a bit. (I'm a C64 guy.. joystick only, if you please.) 😋
So, over the x-mas/new year break was a good chance to really dig deep into an old C64 game: Ultima V. IMHO the last of the great Ultima games on the C64. Last time I played it it required disks, lots of them. Now there's an EasyFlash cart version, and it's glorious. No swapping!
