@benjedwards I freaking love Pogo Joe. 👍
It's the perfect way to take a fun, but frustratingly short, game like Q*Bert, and expand it into something with a decent play-time on a home computer.
And he's always happy. 😁
The front-end all looks to be pretty similar. Some more subtle shading and less-saturated colours on the DOS port. 🤔 I really wish I could work out how to get the Gravis Ultrasound sound working, cos I despise Soundblaster MIDI music with a passion. But theres that SVGA option..
But now I've been checking out "The Settlers." Which is an excellent wee medieval Sim City-ish game, with more of a focus on roads, mines, and a little combat. The DOS version, though lacking the music I love, has used the extra colours and resolution well. (Amiga then DOS pics.)
@gregnacu It was so long ago that I read the instructions that I can't remember why anything is done. 😁 But half the game is working out which weapon is most effective against the residents of each zone. The maze is a race to get in, deposit the pieces, and get out before enemies appear.
@rhayadercompute @jmechner I can't be the only one who hears the music in his head whenever they see screenshots of this game, right?
🎵 da da-da da!
🎵da da da da
🎵da da-da da..
😁
@rhayadercompute @jmechner ..and the Apple II too, of course.
(It's a good reminder of how much less of an imposition multi-load stuff was on the Apple II when you see how quick levels load on it, after playing Karateka on the C64.) 😁
@Lord_Arse @Activision I had this one on tape.
HERO got loaded a *lot* .. man it's such a good game. 😎
