@RetroCollect My top five arcade machines:
(This is a tough one.. likely to change on any other day, I think.) 😁
1) Star Wars (sit-down cab)
2) Sinistar (sit-down cab)
3) Elevator Action
4) Time Pilot
5) Bank Panic
🤔 (Wondering if any should be knocked off for Pooyan, Gyruss, or Rygar..)
@gamesyouloved Had this on the Amiga. Such unfriendly coding: installing and playing it without glitches was such a challenge. It certainly looked beautiful, but they gave up on their "advanced algorithms" for CPU players that could all be beaten with the jump-kick. *sigh* But it was pretty. 😁
@claudiopok @gamesyouloved Hear hear!
Karate Champ was the one to learn to fight on.
That game rocked. 👍
@C64Reloaded Stunning game to go from the Vic to C64 with. Super Cycle did look gorgeous. But the gameplay kinda annoyed me. (Or maybe it was the skidding sound .. that just sounded wrong.) But, still, probably the best presented bike game the C64 ever saw. 👍
@gamesyouloved Pole Position taught me how to crash, if I'm entirely honest. 😁 I think the one that taught me how to drive was Revs. 👍 (It had this mechanic I wasn't used to: you had to actually use the brakes to be able to make it around the track.) 😋
@TheGavNinja @C64Reloaded We might be getting into that golden age, when people can have a C64 Ultimate, and crank up the CPU speed until it plays at a good speed. 😁 I tried it in VICE with the SuperCPU at 20Hz. It plays comically fast. 😮 Then I tried normal VICE64 at 150% speed, and that felt right. 👍
@C64Reloaded @JamesPond47 Some days your timing is a little bit off .. and that eagle just owns you. 😐
@JamesPond47 For the point-and-click adventures and, well, most games of that era, I wasn't a big fan of the talkie versions. Often the voice acting wasn't very good. 🤔 LucasArts excepted, of course. 😁 The one thing you could guarantee with LucasArts games was good voice talent. 👍
@JamesPond47 My brother had "Serf City" (The alt name for "The Settlers") on his PC, back in the day. But I was a staunch Amigan, so I kinda dismissed it as a simple port with a SVGA mode. But I wish they'd put a high-res interlace mode in the Amiga version. It's so nice to have a wider view.
@TheGavNinja @MarkRJones1970 Yup. Love that Green Beret artwork.
Doesn't matter that it shows him firing a gun, which the in-game character can't do. It's just really well done. 👍
