@SieHopkins @C64Reloaded Yeah. I had that loading-screen shock as well, the first time I loaded it on my C64. 😮 Great game. 👍
@gparkford @bastichb64k @fuzzybad @EC64Forum @EverythingC64 It was worth having the instructions too, as there was a lot explained in it that couldn't easily be deduced in the game. Most buildings weren't named in the game, so the reference card was important there, and all the tutorial objectives were spelled out in the instruction book.
@gparkford @bastichb64k @fuzzybad @EC64Forum @EverythingC64 Serf City / The Settlers was such a brilliant game.
The combat never grabbed me - probably because they just fought one at a time, so there wasn't much advantage to a bigger army. But I loved building sprawling cities, and trying to set up a roading network that didn't suck. 😋
I did try the arcade game in MAME last night. Sometimes I've been playing the computer version for so long that I forget all the wee graphical flourishes that are in the arcade version. Its nice to have the mechanics of the game demoed to you before you play it. More enticing. 🙂
@bastichb64k @EC64Forum @EverythingC64 Entombed was great fun.
I really had no idea where I was going, coz I didn't get the change in perspective. But once I had the Zzap64 maps, I really knew where I should be heading. (No idea how to complete it without cheating though.. too many suicidal creatures coming at ya.) 😁
Played a wee bit of Dig Dug on the C64 the other day. It's one of those early conversions that was quite faithfully done (as far as I can remember.. 🤔 Damn, now I want to go back to the arcade version to verify that.) 😋 This and Mr Do feel like they hatched from the same brain.
@fuzzybad @bastichb64k @EC64Forum @EverythingC64 I'm more worried about the fighter in the front, on the box-art, looking like he's constipated. 😋 ..I suppose we should be grateful that they put some decent effort into porting this one to the C64. Some of the other arcade ports we had around that time were *terrible.* 😐
@Carnivius Staff of Karnath has a beautifully simple implementation:
Hole in the back wall. Enter it. Cut to black. Foot-step sounds, and you're at the next level. 👍
@000Angus000 @rexthedogge @CommodoreBlog Nope. I tried it. You're stuck with "Interceptor-12" etc. Can get really confusing if you have, say, one armed with only a cannon, to bring down those very small UFO's. ..also, the flame and smoke don't animate. And the exit button is still labelled "Quit to DOS." 😮 Outrageous!
