It was a late C64 game, so there was really some quite amazing graphics in Defender of the Crown. 👍

It really is how you'd make Q*Bert if you were to design it for home computers, with longer play-times. And, yeah, I kinda think they have made it better than the arcade game. 😎

Huh.. This game looks so much like a "We love BC's Quest for Tires, but let's change it *just* enough so we can't be sued for ripping off BC's Quest for Tires" kind of affair. 😁

The room layout and puzzle placement is random each game. But, upon loading it's always starts with the same room layout. Restart the game (runstop+restore) to get a truly random game.

Master those half-step+jumps and stepping over gaps. You need them for these yellow rooms. 🤓

(Each success in music room gets you a bonus terminal code. Alternates between Snooze and Lift-Init.)

Don't be afraid to get close to the robots once you know their behaviour. The lower one won't start his routine until he sees me. I'd go up on the left to see if he's a zapper.

Pitstop II (the non-turbo loader version) was around 20 mins.
Impossible Mission was still a non-turbo loader, but they did some data compression so, IIRC, it was somewhere vaguely around 15 min. (I'll have to try it again and see.)
This was all fine with 3.5 kB VIC-20 files. 😁
