@gregnacu Yeah. The super-high res modes packed in a lot of pixels. Unfortunately the flicker of that 512 vertical pixels was quite intense. 😁 Once I got a 1942 monitor, I started using 640x512 DblPAL, which is around the same pixel bandwidth. Workbench looked pretty cool then. 😎
@C64Reloaded Impossible Mission is still such an excellently designed game. Looks beautiful, and the gameplay is spot on. Not only do you have to get good enough to search most of the rooms, but you have to do it with time-enough to spare to solve the punch-card puzzle. (I can still do it) 😄
@JewelKnightJess Rare was considered third-party, yeah?
I'll always put in a vote for Perfect Dark.
A lot of nice refinements and improvements from their previous (007) title.
(Otherwise Pod Racer. Excellent game that.)
@C64TimeLine That's Delta. (The prequel to Armalyte.)
Beautiful shoot-em-up, though the path through the game is very prescribed at times, which rubs some people the wrong way. But yeah, immaculately presented. 👍
@000Angus000 @SarahJaneAvory Actually, the voice acting is very good on this one.
That's my intelligent observation for 2022. 😋
@cSportDriving Cheers! 🍺
Side-by-side split screen on an ultra-wide could look pretty cool. But don't let the 4:3 monitor people feel left out. 😋
(Just kidding. Leave them out.) 🤣
@OldTechAdverts Wolf3D is a brilliant game. I didn't have a PC at the time, so it was a long time before I got to play it properly. But it's still so so well designed. Holds up well, even today.
👍
@RetroGameGeeks @EverythingC64 @jasha_jasha @MissMiaw @RetroFeeder @UndeadToTheEnd @MiracleMan82 @PrinceWatercres @CiskoNokia @e3man01 @Cerabelum1 The Amstrad is a good machine. It seems to be getting a second-life in these retro days. 👍
I did like the Speccy version too.. It was pretty good. Someone has even done a "re-imagined" version of it with lots of new graphics. 😎
