yes it's sculpted, here are some screenshots, forgive the disastrous topology, but well, it's ZBrush for illustration so I'm not optimizing, as you know ;)
To animate this, probably a liquid simulation with -1 gravity masks (doable in blender, c4d or houdini, but no idea how :D )

houdini apprenticeはOBJで書き出せるので、MAYAでFBXに直してmesh作ってる。
それに全体に透かし入ってないからapprenticeでもテクスチャ作れる。
学生からしたらindie高い

逆変換したときに一部分だけパーツが伸びていましたが、球面座標系はz軸に極があるためと推定されます。x軸を球⇒対象モデルになるように予め座標変換してから処理することでパーツ伸び現象を防ぎます。
