I know people are slating the reconstruction animations, especially with the Web of Fear animation, and I do have gripes with a lot of them. But The Moonbase, The Tenth Planet and especially The Macra Terror's animations are pretty marvellous to watch, both in style and fluidity.

When the skeleton was first described, the tracheal cartiliage was misidentified as a dorsal (=on-the-back) fringe, which you can see in CR Knight's reconstructions of Tylosaurus in the 1899 paper & accompanying FR221 on display @AMNH (& @FieldMuseum's P15144!)

As a boy I was amazed at the work of Alan Sorrell. His reconstruction of Dirleton was the first image of its kind I ever saw. So I copied his techinque of boxing views a section at a time. I used (8 pence) Postcard images in 1981 then scaled up to A3 size (Tantallon example)

My study and partly reconstruction of the 'Etruscan Juno', an Etruscan artwork from the 4th century BC, Museo Nazionale Etrusco a Roma, Villa Giulia. In the original, some pieces are missing, but traces of colour are still visible.
