little mini update, it took all day, but I got lighting to work on sprites!! its really complex programming and shader wise, yet visually its just a logical thing!

I applied the pattern to a layer above the enlarged sprite art. Then I set the layer to "Soft Light." The final effect is a bit too dark and saturated at the moment, but I think I'm off to a good start!
