A friend recently introduced me to VINLAND SAGA and I’m completely hooked! I never read the manga but the animation from Wit Studio is incredible! Apparently Season 2 has been passed to MAPPA! This will definitely keep me happy till CHAINSAW MAN drops! Anyone else seen it? #anime

The final scenes are pretty brilliant & point to the bigger picture that the creative team had for this story. It is reminiscent of PREDATOR with a bit of THE MATRIX thrown in and it kind of makes everything that precedes it even more awesome. Once again, small budget, big balls!

I may be in the minority but I’d love to see Kore-eda tackle more darker stories like this. His slow and observant style is a perfect pairing with this genre, and his films with familial issues aren’t that far from horror stories themselves! This was a successful experiment imo x

It might be a masterpiece in a filmography filled masterpieces but it will always be the film I recommend the most. The observations are so sharp and the understated but overwhelming unsaid issues the family hide from are so perfectly portrayed. It’s a work of filmmaking genius!

I’m gonna crack straight on with Volume 2 now! Sweet dreams, everyone 😅

I’ve only seen 20 of Kinji Fukasaku’s 65 films so far, but this will always be my favourite. It’s not just an incredible piece of genre filmmaking, but it actually impacted popular culture & continues to inspire artists in different mediums to this day. Kinji’s true masterpiece!

I’m kind of burnt out on superhero films but this one is an absolute joy! It’s got dark moments but mostly it’s a really funny and smart spoof of the genre with a super memorable Shô Aikawa performance. Apparently the sequel is a completely different beast but I’m keen to see it!

The sets, the lighting, the framing, the camera movements, the score, the editing, it’s all constructed at such a high level that it’s impossible to deny Hideaki Anno his master status! He is a legend of anime but his lesser known live action stuff like this is just as impressive

I know if you look up “late to the party” in the dictionary you will see my face, but I just finished season one of ATTACK ON TITAN and it is so fucking good! The way it builds it’s world and expands it’s horizon is incredible. It just gets better and better #anime #AttackOnTitan
