Bardock and Goku look alike, as you’d expect of father and son, but DBZ Movie 3 lets us see Tullece (Turles), who’s identical to Goku simply because “there weren’t that many types” of low-class Saiyans. Daizenshuu 3 attributes this to the low-class warriors’ shared environment.

The first shift comes in the Namek arc. Before then, Vegeta had only ever been referred to as an elite (or “super elite”), but Dodoria spills the beans that he was in fact the prince, and we later learn that his father was the king (logically enough)

Actually 700 isn’t too bad of a guess, since he does look about 50 when he first appears in 750. This would make him only 12 when he founds CC, although Bulma and Tights’ early development in Jaco makes this far from impossible. Either way, he and his wife never seem to age

Age 712: West City College graduate Dr. Briefs invents a revolutionary system for storing objects of any size inside tiny capsules. He then goes on to found a corporation for producing these capsules. Its name escapes me. #HistoryofEver

Maybe Gohan’s battles with Roshi were just part of his training, but at one point Roshi even used his deadly Bankoku-Bikkuri-Sho technique against him, so their fights could still get pretty intense (Roshi never mentions if they fought at the TB, tempting as that is to imagine)

It’s sadly unspecified precisely when or how Gohan came to be Roshi’s disciple, but he and fellow pupil Ox King trained by delivering milk just as Goku and Kuririn later do (I’ll have to save details on Ox King for another day).

Gohan’s fame is established early on: even Oolong knows about him! At some point Roshi gifted him the Nyoibo (Power Pole), and he becomes so well-known for wielding it that Yamcha and Ox King both realize Goku’s connection to Gohan when they see he has it.

Yes, it’s Goku’s adoptive grandfather Son Gohan, born in Age 658 according to the Daizenshuu 7 timeline, thus technically making him 92 when he reunites with Goku in 750...but of course by then he’s been dead for an unspecified number of years.

Ahhh, the “Society Survival Arc”. What a great moment in human history.

Tomorrow: the original, you might say!
