Retrogaming of the 8 and 16 bit variety. That's my jam. 😎

With a lot of Speccy stuff the art-style ends up kinda like colourised monochrome. 🤔 But the nice thing with the Speccy was that dithering effects were clear on the TV's of the day. With the C64, alternating on/off high-res pixels often made for strange moiré/colour effects. 🤓

Yeah, the C64 is a much more muted palette. And you've always got those three shades of grey to fall back on for lots of luminance levels. (and orange/red/brown/green pairs for shading too.)

Then you go Speccy and it's all bright and vibrant.
(Which isn't bad. Just different.)

Every time I was at the arcade in town I had to play it.

Was in there on one of their free-play nights. Played it to completion. The first arcade game I ever saw with a proper end sequence. Great stuff. 👍

How to play Knucklebusters:
load game
turn the volume up
listen to the title tune
press fire
listen to the intro tune
press fire .. move to an empty platform
listen to the in-game tune (17 min!)
let the timer run down
listen to the high score tune
reset

But, overall, the game reminds me a ton of Traverse USA/Zippy Race. 🤔 Just imagine the same game done five years earlier.

I'm not sure if there is any link between the two games. It just feels like Rally Bike is to Zippy Race as Time Pilot '84 is to Time Pilot. 😎

🤔 Now that I think about it, I had a *lot* of Shawn Southern games.

Floyd the Droid (C64)
Not a brilliant game. But still kinda fun in its uniqueness. 🤖

Some of the timing for the stuff around the water-that-wants-to-kill-you annoyed the heck out of me. I got past it before, but this time I didn't have the patience for it and stopped right there.

Fun game though. They really got it right in terms of atmosphere. 👍

Don't you hate it, when you're having a nice relaxing [insert-drinks-brand-here] and you get zapped by lightning and thrown into.. [alien-place]

I never even finished it.. do we find out if it's another time, and alternate universe, or just some planet way out somewhere?

I loved tinkering with the Magnetic Scrolls and Infocom stuff .. but I usually wasn't very good at them. 😁

They were great on the C64 .. gave you lots of time to contemplate things while they loaded the next bit off of disk. 🤔
