Absolutely. It’s worth checking out his collaborations with illustrators / artists, too. Some of my favourites below:
Did an ‘Almond pilgrimage’ a couple of years ago. Visited Kielder Water, Newcastle, Lindisfarne and the wonderful, Seven Stories.

Is this a case of diminished return? Joe loves using this technique to show movement in a static image.

Some lovely little drawings above Nyla’s bed of the Rock from TSOBR (think I spy Julian again on the journal?). Also what looks like mummies, dragons & some classics - Pan & Secret Garden offering us a sense of flight (link to Icarus?) & restorative power of nature.

Could have listened for another hour and a half with ease. So much left to explore. Perhaps a double act with Mac is required next year?

By the way , is Extra Yarn your most ‘juiced up’ cover. So much colour! 🎨

These might suit ⬇️
Written by one of the Australian masters of children’s/YA literature, Gary Crew. Illus. by Steven Woolman (Caleb) and Jeremy Geddes (The Mysteries of Eilean Mor)
The latter is based on a true story and definitely edgier (more KS3).

Enjoy! And take plenty of photos. And a something to fan yourself (esp. if you’re going on the underground!)
Very jealous ☺️📚😃

Do you find there’s an innate choice in the direction of the light in your illustrations? Or it is based on the scene you’re depicting?
Presume you can’t really shift focus too much during a text as it might disjoint the reader if they switch perspective.

These are always a pleasure to read and listen to. Great opportunity to go ‘Master of Disguise’ with Hoot Owl. Eyebrows’ poetry will have the children laughing before the reader even gets to the couplet.
