@RuddickRichard @lwilliamsjones @MrS_Primary @jonthelegend I liked it a lot. It’s dark, violent and fun. Never found a sequence that replicates an acid trip so vividly (for clarity, haven’t done acid!)
I’d go for one volume and see. Picked this omnibus up originally on recommendation of Inky Fingers’ staff in Oxford. Sadly shut down now
@TeresaCremin @SadiePhillips @marygtroche @MichaelRosenYes @nikkigamble @HannahTeach @GalwayMr @one_to_read @clpe1 @ImogenRW @imaginecentre I did before it closed. Shaun Tan had an exhibition on there in 2018 which I went to. Sad to see it go. Picked up an original Polly Dunbar from ‘My Dad’s a Birdman’ to mark the end of my masters - dissertation focused on fatherhood in Almond’s work.

@librarymice @marygtroche @MichaelRosenYes @nikkigamble @HannahTeach @GalwayMr @one_to_read @TeresaCremin @clpe1 @ImogenRW @imaginecentre One of my favourites was at the signing queue. When asked about how he conceptualised scale in Mr. Wuffles, he said he had a camera at the eye level of the cat and explored the world from its perspective. Such an interesting idea and one that could be implemented in classrooms!
@JonnyHibbert21 @clpe1 Enjoy! Can’t wait to hear what they make of it. You’d love ‘Art and Max’ too. Pollock-inspired, deconstructed picturebook. 👌🏼📚
@MrS_Primary @PaulWat5 @i_teach_things @RuddickRichard @Misterbodd @KarlDuke8 @smithsmm @Parky_teaches @LTeacher123 @MrMclugash @f33lthesun @MissSDoherty @primaryteachew @jonthelegend @eenalol @MissNCleveland @jonnybid May have to pick this up before next month. Looks great. Thanks for the recommendation, Brett.
@joannabquinn @RebeccaLucas @Mat_at_Brookes @Readitdaddy @JennyHolderLiv @RuddickRichard @ToonBooks New one to me. Thanks Rebecca! Looks great.
@Mat_at_Brookes @joannabquinn @RebeccaLucas @Readitdaddy @JennyHolderLiv @RuddickRichard @RuddickRichard’s pinned tweet (Padlet) is a great starting point. I’ve been looking most recently at #OwnVoice graphic novels. Like ElDeafo and New Kid, which are superb.
@jonnybid @smokysmum @OpenUni_RfP @TeresaCremin @mattheweduk @son1bun @liz_loch @_borntosparkle @The_UKLA @smithsmm @therealmemfox Child said “The Peacocks and the Swans are a bit like those Montagues and Capulets in our English work. Fighting over nothing!”
Those comments are like gold dust.
Totally hadn’t planned or made the link directly myself. They were just immersed in the ‘Tell Me’ language.
@ClubPicturebook @Teacherglitter @LTeacher123 @MrsKirstBarrett @one_to_read @PaulWat5 @MissNCleveland @Misterbodd @sam_creighton @f33lthesun @smithsmm @simonegoward I’ve used Night of the Gargoyles in Creative Writing. Beats that old SATS writing piece about the statues that move. There’s some parallels to Van Allsburg here.

Beautifully drawn. Love how much can be conveyed just through image without a word.
