Imported into PS with a 16x16 pixel grid overlaid (zoom to see). Should make it more clear how attributes are laid out.
The marquee rectangle is 256x240 which is the NES:es software screen size, for a sense of scale & scope

One good method to work within a hard tile budget is to coarsely layout the scene in solid-colour 8x8 tiles *first*, then start chiseling out details as you need them. While doing so, you'll often find that the tile you've just chiseled can get repeated in other places.
Realized I got 4k followers! Thank you all, it means a lot. <3
Quick recap: I make new NES games, sometimes with others, sometimes alone.,sometimes as a hobby, sometimes as work. Often graphics and/or level design, sometimes the whole deal - music, programming, design, etc.

Some things i've been working on:
Other things i can do: bitmap fonts, NES style title screens & menu cards, decorative elements, HUD:s.
Times are what they are. To keep the roof, I'm now open to commissions & long term contracts on part time to fill out the schedule. No lowballing.
I'm a 2d artist with expertise in technical limitations & level design. I've also got experience as lead animator and GUI designer.
